Switching from LaserWeb to LightBurn

LightBurn is the new software package for the Emblaser 2. This article will outline the steps needed to update from using LaserWeb on your Emblaser 2, to LightBurn.

IMPORTANT: These steps are only needed for switching from LaserWeb to LightBurn. Subsequent updates to LightBurn and the Emblaser 2 firmware are handled within LightBurn itself.

If your Emblaser 2 shipped with a LightBurn license key, you do not need to follow these steps. Your machine will have the latest firmware already installed.

Step 1: Purchase a LightBurn update license key

Step 2: Update the firmware

We have updated the Emblaser 2 firmware to take advantage of some features in LightBurn (such as auto-connecting).

  1. Download the latest firmware from this link: LINK
  2. Turn on your Emblaser 2.
  3. Unzip the contents of the firmware file to your Emblaser 2 SD drive. It will contain two files called 'firmware.bin' & 'on-boot.gcode'. Make sure you overwrite the existing files if asked.
  4. Restart your Emblaser2.

IMPORTANT: After this new firmware is installed, you will no longer see the Emblaser2 drive appear. This is intentional as access to it is no longer needed.

Step 3: Download & install LightBurn (trial)
